Reflection on turning experience into learning
Describe objectively what happened
I had worked as a practical trainee in Ernst & Young at my hometwon, Kota Kinabalu Sabah for a period of two months. I sent an email to my friend's father, whom one of the firm's partner. I have got the offer letter from them a week later. There are two departments, tax and assurance depoartment. And I was assgined to assurance department, which is auditing.
Interpret the events
Initially, I was afraid that I would make mistakes and bring troubles to the seniors. But the other trainees told me that nothing to be afraid of as we are "newbies". The main reason I go for this training is to understand professional practice within the field of study (TGC 1.3). Additionally, I have a more in depth understanding of an auditor's life.
Evaluate what you learned
Through this two months of training, I went to clients' offices with seniors and also my ownself. I learn to conduct TGC4.1, which is communicate appropriately in order to communicate with my clients to get the documents I needed and accurate information effectively (TGC 2.2). Later, I have to key in the information I have got for the sake of auditing.Somehow my Malay language skill isn't that good, while the client offices' staffs are mostly speak Malay one, so there were some difficulties when communicating with them.
Plan how this learning will be applied
This skill and knowledge will be useful to me as a learner, so that I could work or being assigned for higher level task in the audit firm during my internship as I have these knowledge as base. In the future, I wish I could be an outstanding internal auditor, make myself and my family members be proud.
