5.0 MY FUTURE PLANS

5.1 Career Plans

Intern in SCC helped me to decide on the right path. I was not that certain about my chosen career path. Either go for accounting professional examination, ACCA then work for audit firm or straight going for bank. Nevertheless, during trainees' seminar, Internal Audit Department HOD, Mr. Charles declared that accounting undergraduates who are going for professional examination must work for audit firm for few years to gain experience first. Therefore, I have made a plan of applying work as a staff in SCC once I have graduated and go for ACCA while I am working. If I am not succeed, I would follow Mr. Charles advice, work in audit firm and take ACCA.

In short, this internship is really a good chance to explore my potential career options.

5.2 Future Development Required

Personal development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential. Although early life development and early formative experiences within the family, at school, etc. can help to shape us as adults, personal development should not stop later in life.

After implementation of internship, I think I have to equip myself with more development of skills. Firstly, my public relation skill. Communication is similar to public relation, but public relation is more challenging as it needs courage to speak publicly or speak to someone I don’t know. Therefore, in order to improve my public relation skill, I will need to build more of my self-confidence such as speak English frequently. Secondly, I need to be more proactive, because I need to do more to be outshine. Be more outshine can increase my self-confidence relatively. Last but not least, I have to learn to be more focus while working. This is due to I get distracted easily by texts and other social medias.
