When I first got this assignment, I roughly know how to attempt the questions as we have learnt linear programming (LP) since lecture 5 until lecture 8. Thus, my knowledge upon LP should be sufficient in order to complete this assignment. However, we met some obstacles at Question 4. This part consists of what we never done in classes before. Besides flipping through the textbooks, we also have done some researches through the internet. We thereby exerted our team work spirits.

Throughout this assignment, our skills of formulating objective function and constraints and constructing the graph through Excel were strengthened. LP aids us in planning and making decisions for Hornbill Bakery Bhd relative to the trade-offs necessary to allocate resources. I understood LP determines the optimum output of two products. I able to select the product mix correctly which is under best use of machine and labour hours available while maximizing the profits. It has taught me more about the practical and how they can be applied in a real life situation. Hence, I can adopt this method in future in order to examine which product will be the most appropriate to be produced. Apart from the practical question, we also require to answer some theory questions. Effectiveness of JIT is discussed in this module and also Introduction to Management. I learned that JIT is a good option to overcome Hornbill’s space issue as it reduces the cost of warehousing for the materials. It also conducive Hornbill in avoiding rework, scrap, and wastage.

In a nutshell, after completing this assignment, I have learned a lot of things which I am unable to write out all in this essay but I am assure that it was truly one of the greatest assignments that I have enjoyed and cherished the most.
